My 1st Craft Fair by Joe & Anna Marketplace

I recall the memory vividly, as if it happened just yesterday. Arriving early in the morning, I found myself at the building while darkness still enveloped the surroundings. Carefully unloading my car, I began setting up my table. This marked my very first craft fair experience. Nervousness tingled within me. Nevertheless, I summoned the courage to push aside my anxiety and proudly showcase my handmade products to the public.

Gallerie Schmetterling

It all started during lockdown as so many of these things do. I had given up full time work due to ill health at the end of 2019 and then lost my mother and 2 other close family members in 2020. My coping method was walking. And walking. And walking. I started taking photographs of things that I saw out and about. First on my phone, then on a small camera that I could hide in my pocket so that other walkers wouldn’t judge me but then finally on my old wedding cameras.

Event Photos

We aren’t a traditional market, or a local craft fair or art exhibition… we are different. We are small business supporting small businesses! We want to change the way people shop & explore all the indie makers that exist right on our doorstep. We had over 40 makers, artists, designers and small businesses take part last weekend and I can’t wait until the next event. So much small business success is determined by the people you surround yourself with. I’m so fortunate to have such amazing craftspeople as part of Folk & Bespoke, who bring heaps of positivity to my events! I’m constantly inspired by your passion, drive and creativity and it’s so lovely getting to know each and every one of you. Here’s how our events have unfolded so far.

Mindful Gifting

Taking a mindful approach to gift giving is less about the gifts themselves and more about the thought behind them. It is about bringing thought and care to what we are giving, to the person we are giving to, and to the act of giving itself. When it comes to gifting, this might look like shopping locally or it could mean gifting a virtual service. It could look like gifting generously financially or it could mean offering our love, attentiveness, or service.

Hygge!

Hygge (pronounced Hoo-guh or Hoo-ga)…ever googled it before? I certainly have as it seems to be a bit of a buzz word of late.

I’m feeling the chill and gradually forgetting the warm Ceret sunshine that I was lucky enough to indulge in and miss so much. I think we all need a bit of hygge in our lives, as these chilly Autumnal mornings and evenings creep in.
